Hi!
My name is Christine, I like making things, and I’m so glad you’re here.
Hi, I’m Christine. A maker, storyteller, and lifelong creative dabbler.
I was born in Montreal, but my roots stretch back to Nova Scotia, where art, music, and making things by hand are simply part of who we are. My own love for all things creative probably started around the same time I learned how to hold a pair of scissors. My mom ran a home daycare, so I grew up surrounded by paint, glitter, beads, feathers, pipe cleaners and an endless supply of construction paper. In short, a crafter’s dream.
When I was six, I got a French knitter, and before long every doll and stuffed animal I owned had a lopsided little scarf. At ten, I graduated to my first sewing machine and started cutting up my dad’s old shirts for fabric scraps. That early urge to tinker, to finish something with my own two hands — whether useful or just beautiful — never really went away.
I decided to turn creativity into my career, this time in the form of writing. I got my journalism degree to learn how to tell stories, then I made a professional career in marketing, helping businesses share how they make an impact.
But, my hands always needed something tangible, too. I kept up with my creative side by painting and drawing for years. During the pandemic, after spending way too much time on TikTok, I saw a short video of someone crocheting a blanket. Blessed with the ‘how hard can it be?’ gene, I went out that day and bought six skeins of yarn. I made the blanket, and then countless other projects for friends, family, and sometimes myself.
Now, crafting with textiles is how I quiet my mind, relax after a long day, and challenge myself. It’s the meditative act of figuring something out, stitch by stitch, and creating something from nothing. This space is where I hope to share that love. Of texture, colour, process, and the small joys that come from making things by hand.
